Planning & Tips

Warm Weather Weddings

Have you chosen to get married in the warmer months?

With warm weather, fabulous flowers, blue skies, beautiful background and later days who can blame you. Check out some of our tips to keep you and your guests cool and have an amazing wedding.

Keep in mind the temperature when shopping for your dress and your bridal party’s attire. We suggest flowing and light fabrics that breathe. This will keep everyone comfortable.

Talk with your make-up artist.  They will be able to provide tips to keep you and your bridesmaids makeup from sweating off and plan for an up-do to help keep you cool.

Don’t forget about the guys. Be sure to keep in mind the temperature when choosing their attire. A full suit may be too hot!

Take advantage of the longer days and choose a later start time. It will be cooler in the evening. Be sure to schedule your ceremony with enough time for those amazing sunset photos.

WATER. Be sure to provide lots of bottled water. We provide rolling coolers you are welcome to use. Have the water available both before the ceremony as your guests walk to their seats and during the cocktail hour. We want to keep everyone hydrated.

Fan Wedding Programs! Y’all these can be lifesavers and they are so cute while keeping your guests cool. Have these available as your guests walk to their seats or on their seats.

Be sure to let your guests know the ceremony will be outside and dress accordingly. They will appreciate the heads up. Remind them the reception will be indoors in a very well air conditioned reception hall.

Encourage your guests to hang out under the covered areas as they arrive before the ceremony begins. Both the pavilion and our covered patio are great options for this. When it is time to start your planner can have your guests take their seats.

Plan for an indoor cocktail hour. Your guests will love you for this. Allow them access to the reception hall for drinks, appetizers and of course air conditioning.

Offer your guests a fun COOL treat. Ice cream, popsicles, frozen drinks etc. are fun and different. Guests always remember unique treats!

Consider taking some photos before the ceremony. This may cut down on the time you spend outdoors after the ceremony.

Take advantage of all the amazing photo locations. Our huge barn doors are covered and incredible for photos. Also the pavilion with the string lights is a beautiful backdrop for photos and is covered as well.

Be on time! Start your ceremony on time to reduce the time guests are in the heat. Keep your ceremony short & sweet! You & your guests will appreciate it.

Location. Keep in mind Lucky Spur offers several ceremony locations. While our outdoor ceremony location is stunning in the warmer months if you are concerned about the heat do not hesitate to utilize our covered pavilion or our reception hall. Check out photos of indoor or pavilion ceremonies. You will not be disappointed! If you choose an indoor ceremony our staff will take care of the flip. YES, you read that right! We are experts and will very quickly flip the room for the reception. The pavilion or covered patio are both great options for a short cocktail hour.

Having options and being prepared is important. We host outdoor weddings all year long!
