Story Behind the Spur
Located just north of Justin, TX, Lucky Spur Ranch features 56 acres of creeks, ponds and rolling hills just outside the DFW metroplex. Originally named T Bar D Ranch by the previous owner Tom Dodd, the property was built for horses and was a hotspot for rodeos, match roping events & equine sports of all kinds.
In 2015 the ranch was purchased and the transformation began. The covered 18 stall open air barn was converted into a pavilion that seats 200 plus. Construction began on the gorgeous 12,000 square foot climate controlled reception barn and ceremony courtyard where the rodeo arena once sat. The horse trailer storage room was converted into what is now an extraordinary board room with audio visual and a custom hand made conference table that seats 20 executives in comfortable plush chairs. All the guests rooms were redesigned and decorated with shabby chic in mind, including the beautiful bridal suite that all the brides to be fall in love with at first glance.
In October 2016, with the smell of sawdust and fresh paint in the air, Lucky Spur Ranch Retreat welcomed its first couple to say “I do” .

After years of experience catering other events in DFW, Dakon & Amy Doggett purchased Lucky Spur, then T Bar D Ranch, in 2015.. Their vision for Lucky Spur included overnight weekend experience for weddings, corporate events, and family get-togethers. Dakon & Amy pride themselves on being hands on owners there to assist guests in every way.

Our number one focus is to provide the best possible experiences for our guests. As we strive to reach that goal, we’ve continued to build upon the Lucky Spur list of amenities, including an onsite kitchen & a climate controlled reception Barn with seating for up to 400 as well as a covered open air pavilion for an additional 200 guests.
